Silverlake supports emergency services’ ‘Festival of Rescue’

Silverlake Automotive Recycling was a main supporter of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) when they hosted the UK’s biggest and most prestigious rescue competition on 27, 28September.

Expert teams of firefighters from 28 UK fire services and three international teams came to Portsmouth and Eastleigh to take part in the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation (UKRO) ‘Festival of Rescue’.

Teams competed to test their skills and be the best across a variety of challenging scenarios.

Silverlake provided 110 salvage vehicles to be used in the Extrication Challenge, which took place over both days at Gunwharf Quays.

Allen Prebble, Managing Director at Silverlake Automotive Recycling said, “Silverlake has been supporting Hampshire and IOW Fire & Rescue Service for over a decade, supplying salvage vehicles and the use of our 10-acre site in Shedfield for their training exercises and assessments.

“When they told us they were hosting the 2024 UKRO Festival of Rescue in Portsmouth, we were 100% ready to help. This event represents a learning and development opportunity that helps firefighting professionals to keep our communities safe.”

Copart opens St Helens Operation Centre

Global leader in online vehicle remarketing and recycling Copart UK has opened a new Operation Centre in St Helens, Merseyside.

St Helens is the fourth new Copart Operation Centre to open its doors in recent months, joining Corby, East Kilbride, and Gloucester.

The company’s purchase of this 16-acre site, which was formerly leased by Cazoo, is strategically placed between Manchester and Liverpool, and increases their vehicle storage capacity by 50% in the Northwest.

Jane Pocock, CEO of Copart UK and Ireland, said, “It’s a hugely exciting time for Copart as investment into our ‘Land and Expand’ strategy continues to gather pace, future-proofing our business to support the needs of our customers.

“We’re acquiring even more land and expanding many of our existing sites to enable growth, handle increasing EV volumes, and expand the reach of our industry-leading emergency response services.”

St Helens will provide further storage capacity for up to 24,000 vehicles in the Northwest. The first auction at this site is due to take place on 28 October.
