Park Lodge International and Jeff Mack Consultancy are hosting an IMI-approved course to help anyone involved with alternative-fuelled vehicles handle them safely.
The eight-hour Alternative Fuelled Vehicle – Fire & Safety in Response, Recovery, Investigation and Examination course is aimed at insurance assessors, first responders, recovery agents and repairers.
Developed in response to the industry need for an explicit training programme that addresses the key issues of on-scene assessment of potential battery damage or leakage, appropriate transport and safe on site storage, the course aims to equip delegates with the knowledge to assess the risks of alternative-fuelled vehicles, to identify the appropriate PPE, to understand how lithium-ion batteries react to external heat, and to appreciate insurance liability.
Jeff Mack, Alternative Fuel Consultant, JMC/NWVA said, “We’re learning new things every day. The biggest issue is people saying it’s too costly to do the training, but the risks of a lack of knowledge are too severe. The first step is knowing what you’re dealing with, or you may end up sending the wrong person with the wrong recovery vehicle to the scene.”
The next course takes place on 21 September at Eyebox, Coventry.
