Repair sector urged to act now to secure apprenticeship talents

As exam season nears, vehicle repair employers are being urged to act fast to secure the best young talent through apprenticeships before the summer rush.

According to Apprenticeship Central, a surge in student interest means businesses that recruit early will be best placed to attract high-quality candidates.

Eleanor Baker Barnes, Commercial Director at Apprenticeship Central, said: “We’re already seeing a significant number of candidates reach out to us to discuss apprenticeship routes, and decisions are being made now – employers who move early will have their pick of the very best candidates.”

Recent data shows that 41% of young people exploring post-school options are now considering apprenticeships. With interest peaking during the summer term, Apprenticeship Central sees this as a golden opportunity for employers to future-proof their workforce.

Apprenticeship Central states that ambitious, work-ready individuals want to earn while they learn and are ready to start building their careers, and is warning repairers not to wait until summer, by which time many top-tier candidates may already be placed.

Apprenticeship Central specialises in apprentice recruitment and retention across the vehicle repair sector. Their fully outsourced service takes on the legwork of hiring – from initial business consultation to a tailored recruitment campaign, screening, pre-employment programmes and final interviews.
